Ram Nath Kovind inaugurates World Hindi Secretariat (WHS) Headquarters in Mauritius

The World Hindi Secretariat Headquarters has been inaugurated by the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind in the presence of the Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth on 13 March in Phoenix, Mauritius 

 

The President who is in a three day visit to Mauritius is the chief guest for the 50th Independence Day of Mauritius and during the inauguration of WHS he also unveiled the logo of the Secretariat.

 

In his address, Kovind said that around 200 years ago, Hindi gave strength to the Indian immigrants who were brought from India to Mauritius during their struggles. The upcoming World Hindi Conference in Mauritius is the outcome of the deep lover Mauritians have for Hindi. 

 

 

Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth thanked India for the support in different fields and projects. He revealed that the Indian Government financed the world Hindi Secretariat Headquarters costing a budget of rs178 million. He also ensured that Mauritius will extend its help to make the upcoming World Hindi Conference a success.
